Buttonwood Caye
1.25 acres - US$750,000
Buttonwood is one of the most beautiful islands in Caribbean. It's fairly isolated with its closest neighbor being Gladden Caye over a mile away. Buttonwood is located 24 miles East of Placencia. The ride out to the island is about 45 minutes with good water conditions. The island is naturally high with most of the island over 4 feet in elevation. There are a few low spots on the southeastern side that could be filled. There are two simple structures on the property that are in fairly decent shape and an unfinished pier that is in very good shape. Years ago the island was planted with lots of Coconut Palms and many of those are now mature and beautiful. Due to its location, very near the Gladden Spit, the diving and snorkeling in this area is some of the world's best. The water is unbelievably clear with an amazing amount of coral growth. The island enjoys protection from the reef about 2 miles away with water depths between the reef and the island rarely deeper than 12 feet so the water is almost always calm, even though you can see and here the ocean waves crashing on the reef not far away.
